Winter in Christchurch has a beauty all of its own. Crisp mornings, clear blue skies and cosy evenings make it the perfect season to bring fresh flowers into your home. This week at Harakeke Florist for our social pages, I created a cheerful winter arrangement featuring beautifully fragrant jasmine, sunny yellow tulips and elegant Earlicheer.
One of my favourite flowers at this time of year is Erlicheer (Paperwhite Narcissus). Its delicate white blooms and sweet perfume instantly fill a room with the scent of winter gardens, while the bright yellow tulips bring warmth and happiness to even the coldest day.
The addition of flowering jasmine adds another layer of fragrance and texture. As the stems open, they release a beautiful perfume that makes this arrangement as delightful to smell as it is to admire.
I love creating seasonal arrangements using the freshest flowers available. Winter flowers often last exceptionally well when cared for properly, making them a wonderful way to brighten your home or surprise someone special with a thoughtful gift.
Winter Flower Care Tips
- Keep your arrangement away from direct heat sources such as heat pumps and fireplaces.
- Top up the water every couple of days with fresh, cool water.
- Remove any fading blooms to keep your arrangement looking fresh for longer.
- Display your flowers in a cool part of your home to maximise their vase life.
