Every Monday, Wednesdayand Friday, we buy at the Christchurch flower auction. We carefully select the freshest seasonal flowers available. It's one of the most exciting parts of being a florist and one of the reasons no two Harakeke bouquets are ever exactly the same.
What Happens at the Flower Auction?
Unlike supermarkets or large online retailers that often order the same flowers week after week, professional florists buy according to quality, freshness and seasonality.
Every auction is different.
Some mornings there is an incredible selection of locally grown blooms. Other weeks, weather, growing conditions or demand can mean certain flowers are simply unavailable.
Rather than forcing the same bouquet every day of the year, we let the seasons guide our designs.

At auction we're constantly balancing quality, freshness, colour, stem length, vase life and value.
